Equine Tourism Bill

Have a degree in recreation or tourism, love horses...if so you might want to stay tuned after the break I’m Susan Allen and on today’s addition of the American Rancher I’ll be back with a possible new career path. Seems our government continues to find  new programs to fund and while I disagree with the majority of the spending if a new tourism bill  that recently passed in Senate becomes law,  the horse industry could receive much needed   economic boost. Meaning that if you love the travel industry and horses you might want to consider getting an application into Department of Commerce . The newly introduced Travel Promotion Act of 2009 contains provisions to promote equine tourism, a growing segment in the horse industry. One purpose of the bill would be the creation of an Office of Travel Promotion with the mission of increasing  the number of international  and national visitors to events like the Los Angles International Jumping festival,  (going on this month) races, rodeos, and  the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games tour in Lexington, Kentucky next September. The office of Travel Promotion would also be responsible for collecting data on the demographics of attendees.  The American Horse Council is thrilled that according to their legislative director Ben Pendergrass, “Whether it’s a packing trip in the West, one of the outstanding horse shows throughout the country, or one of our exciting races, this bill has the potential to help let those abroad know what the U.S. horse industry has to offer.” I’m Susan Allen
