Estate Planning for Horses

TLC for Horses Most responsible people have their financial and medical affairs in order in case of a crisis but how many of our estate plans include care for our animals? I'm Jeff Keane and I will be back after the break with a  program UC Davis is offering  horse owners. The UC Davis school of Veterinary medicine has come up with a novel way to provide for horses that outlive their owners. Here's Susan. You know Jeff today's horses have long life spans, my rope horse was still competing into his mid-twenties. We don't like to think about it but a horse can outlive it's owner and then what happens to the animal? They have given you so much who will care for them when you cannot." is stated poignantly on the cover of the brochure for the Tender Loving Care for Horses Program developed by the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Through their estate plans owners can establish a fund with the school that will provide not only a permanent loving home but a life time of medical care for horses or companion animals. So after an examination and a registration fee the owner pledges the appropriate lifetime care estate gift. That's quite the concept; including your horse in estate planning. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter! I'm Jeff Keane.
