05/09/08 Summer Reading p5

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. With the summer season upon us we have spent this week discussing our summer reading lists with wine and food in mind. Today I want to discuss some of my favorite classics when reading about wine. As I said all week since our days as children and having our summer reading lists sent home, I find that summer, summer vacation and reading are somehow intertwined. Over the years I have read some books which I truly enjoyed and I often revisit. The first time I read "A Year in Provence", I knew that was the way I wanted to travel, by actually living for awhile in the place I was a visitor. I have managed to make that dream come true on several of my vacations. Another book that is just shear entertainment although you will also learn some things about wine is one that I have recommended before called Bacchus and Me by Jay McInerney. Next try the memoirs of restaurant critic and editor of Gourmet magazine Ruth Reichl she has two books "Tender at the Bone" and "Comfort me with Apples" which are quick reads and very entertaining. So happy reading and if you want to review the recommended summer reading suggestions, visit our website at Vine to Wine dot net where you can read through the text of this weeks programs, and thanks for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
