Washington Ag December 13, 2007 A recently published ranking of U.S. research programs has given Washington State University College of Agriculture, Human and Natural Resource Sciences Dean Dan Bernardo reason to do some bragging. Dean Bernardo says the rankings by Academic Analytics was published in the Chronicle of Higher Education, which is kind of the journal for higher education.
Bernardo: "They ranked top ten programs in all fields in higher education from sociology to agronomy. In the area of plant sciences Washington State was second in the nation only behind Wisconsin. I think that is a great accomplishment. Our faculty and the industry should be proud of that. It is a collective home run if you will. We also ranked 7th in agronomy and crop sciences, 6th in food science, 8th in horticulture, 3rd in vet med."
All signifying says Dean Bernardo that there is excellence in a variety of programs at WSU. He says it is a great accomplishment given that WSU ranks 28th in the nation in state funding for agricultural research.
