New Wine Web Site. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.
It's interactive, attractive and full of good information. It's the all new Washington Wine Commission web site. The Wine Commission has completely redesigned their web presence with some very neat features. Gaby Matthews is the Communications Manager for the Commission.
MATTHEWS: It's very well integrated so we have the trade being able to connect with the wineries, the wineries being able to connect with consumers. We also have features where people can pick out what wineries that you want to receive information from and they can send you information about release parties and stuff like that.
The site also features a map showing all the wineries in the state as push-pins. You can click on a pin to bring up information on that particular winery.
MATTHEWS: We really want to bring people into the wineries since Washington has such a great wine industry in that you can go to a winery and talk to the winemaker; have the winemaker pour you samples. We want to bring people into the wineries so I think this search feature is making it really easy to plan trips.
Once you register with the site you can easily pick several wineries and create a travel itinerary complete with maps. The new web site also features some basic information for people who are new to wine. Be sure and check out the Wine 101 section.
MATTHEWS: I think it's going to be great in the future just to have a place where people can come and just learn a little about Washington Wine.
Be sure and check it out at www.washingtonwine.org.
