From the Western Ag Network, I’m Bob Larson with today’s Fruit Grower Report. A reminder for those of you in the tree fruit industry that the 2026 Washington State Tree Fruit Association Annual Meeting is fast approaching, December 7-9.

Shawn Gay, this year’s Meeting Chair, encourages you all to start making your plans for this important gathering …

GAY … “So, this year’s theme is “Looking Back, Moving Forward.” And what we’re looking for is learning from the past. The last few years have been a struggle for the industry. Kind of learn from that and be able to strengthen moving forward and helping growers to identify those things that can help their own operations.”

Opening day speakers, Gay says will be there to help …

GAY … “The morning session we’ll have Dan Newhouse speaking giving us his input on what’s going on and how it can help us out and encourage growers. And we also have a speaker, Sara Wyant, our keynote speaker, and so we’re excited about that as well.”

Co-Chair, Gilbert Plath says the Hort Show will also be a big part of it …

PLATH … “Vendors and the technology side of it, I think that’s the biggest part that continues to be a yearly change and everyone needs an update on what the latest and greatest, and what works, and which companies are still around and growing and which ones are no longer around. But that is one thing I think the Hort Show gives the best impression, each year the best chance for growers to do.”

And for the first time, the Cherry Institute joins the WSTFA Annual Meeting.
