Washington Ag August 10, 2007 Locally grown food is the focus of an event called Pie in the Sky Carnival coming up Monday August 13th from six to eight p.m. at Pavilion Park in Liberty Lake, Washington east of Spokane. Pat Muntz of WSU's Spokane County Extension provides some details. Muntz: "Pie in the Sky Carnival is going to be a fun opportunity for local folks come and eat locally grown fruit in the form of pies. Buy some fruit. Take it home. We are going to have a pie crust making demonstration we take the big mystery out of making a pie. Hopefully people will walk away with an appreciation for locally grown" Muntz says the free carnival is the only Washington state stop on the Sustainable Table Eat Well Guided Tour of America that is traveling from Los Angeles to New York celebrating local food. Muntz: "It is going to be a fund chance to be part of this event celebrating locally grown food all across the country. They are going to be doing a blog on line. They are going to be doing a video that will be downloaded to the web. The folks are just going to be here to talk to people and see what they know about local food."
