Celebrating Students. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.
It's getting close to back to school time and of course there are a lot of college students that are getting some much needed financial support thanks to the Washington Apple Industry. Jennifer Witherbee with the Washington Apple Education Foundation says the scholarship recipients will be honored at a luncheon.
WITHERBEE: Monday, August 6th is our scholarship celebration luncheon and this is a luncheon that we have to celebrate the great students that are receiving WAEF scholarships this year and give them a fitting send off as they take off on their college adventures so that they know that their community cares and is rooting for them.
Many of the students will be in attendance and will be treated to lunch and a guest speaker.
WITHERBEE: Gene Sharratt is the speaker this year and he's someone the folks from the Wenatchee area know well but he's been gone for the last few years and his topic is "Adjusting to Changing Times: Clinging to Unchanging Principals," which is something I know the students and the adults present will probably gain a lot from.
To attend the luncheon, Witherbee says you must purchase tickets.
WITHERBEE: Tickets must be purchased in advance and those can be purchased by contact the foundation office at 509-663-7713.
