05/01/07 Snohomish FB kicks off funding raising for Heritage Center

Washington Ag May 1, 2007 The public is invited to attend a ceremony this afternoon celebrating the Western Heritage Center Museum located at the Snohomish County Fairgrounds in Monroe. That event is at 3 p.m. in the new museum located adjacent to the Livestock Pavilion. The ceremony will serve to provide an update on the museum's upcoming events as well as recognize the five-thousand dollar contribution of the Snohomish County Farm Bureau to the museum's creation. Dale Reiner, a board member of the county Farm Bureau says they were impressed with the work Western Heritage Center Executive Director Jerry Senner has done and that's why they are making the contribution. Reiner says the museum focuses on natural resource industries like, farming, mining and logging and he says it is important to look at where we have been so we know where we are going. Reiner: "Especially as farmers, and independent farmers at that, we got where we are today through a lot people before us and a lot of hard work at keeping the regulatory climate such that we could farm and keeping the markets open. It's just kind of a celebration of a lot of years of farming. And everybody from my little grandson on up are going to be interested in what is going on there. So there is something for everybody there." The public is also encouraged to attend a benefit auction scheduled for June 16th at the museum at six p.m. I'm Bob Hoff.
