03/12/07 Just days to crop insurance deadline

Washington Ag March 12, 2007 This Thursday, March 15th is an important deadline for federal crop insurance. Dave Paul of USDA's Risk Management Agency regional office in Spokane, says March 15th is the sales closing date for Adjusted Gross Revenue Lite insurance in the region. Paul: "It is also the final date to obtain or change all of our other spring seeded coverage policies excluding wheat in counties with fall and spring planted types, which is essentially all of our region. So, the final sales closing date for all of our spring seeded commodities, potatoes, sugar beets, dry peas, green peas. All of the general commodities that we insure." Paul emphasizes that farmers planting only spring canola can still get coverage until the March 15th deadline. RMA also recently announced additional price elections for various Multi-Peril Crop policies, like spring barley. Paul: "That price went from $2.20 per bushel all the way up to $2.80 a bushel on barley." RMA has also announced the corn grain crop revenue coverage plan projected price in the region is $4.06 a bushel. I'm Bob Hoff.
