Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and today we will continue our series about one of my favorite regions in Washington Wine Country and that is the Yakima Valley.
As I said yesterday, one of the secrets to enjoying the Yakima Valley is to get off the highway. The wonders that lie beyond just might impress you. With the exception of a nicely clustered group of new tasting rooms on the Frontage Road in Prosser, most of the wineries and tasting rooms are a ways off the highway. As their association website states "Most wineries here are small family operations & located within a rural countryside with unparalleled beauty." No kidding sometimes I just drive around aimlessly and end up overlooking some of the most beautiful rolling hills, many of them covered with vineyards. Now we just had Red Wine and Chocolate weekend. Folks really seem to like that. But April 27 29, when you can definitely enjoy our sunshine, it is Wine Yakima Valley's 2007 Spring Barrel Tasting weekend. You will need a ticket - so go to that great website wine Yakima valley dot org. The region produces a wide array of wine varietals and many of the 47 plus wineries make special efforts to enhance the wine tasting experience by adding delicious cheeses, salsas and even desserts along with music and entertainment. I hope to see you there! Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thank you for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
