Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and today we will conclude our series about one of my favorite regions in Washington Wine Country and that is the Yakima Valley.
There are more than 50 wineries in the Yakima Valley. It stretches a long way and the adventure as I said is getting off the highway and really seeking out the people who are involved with the wine industry and more than willing to share their hospitality with you. Hopefully you will have requested or picked up a wine country map. In April, during Spring Barrel Tasting weekend April 27-29, if you are visiting from a nearby metropolitan area say Seattle, Portland, Spokane or Boise - you may want to arrive on Thursday night, getting an early start Friday. Just make sure you have your tickets which you can purchase at the association website wine Yakima valley dot org. Friday the proprietors are fresh and eager to have you taste with them. Bring a picnic with you, and lots of water, so you can sit down and relax when you come across a good spot. Even the most enthusiastic wine tasters need to take a break. I suggest you take turns each day as to who will be the designated driver. Saturday just continue to enjoy the hospitality and the wines. Ask the locals for recommendation as to where to eat that evening. On Sunday, sleep in, but be sure to plan things so you can visit a winery or two before you head for home. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thank you for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
