02/26/07 Yakima Valley Pt 1

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and today we will begin a three part series about one of my favorite regions in Washington Wine Country and that is the Yakima Valley. Yes, it is about to be spring in Wine Country and there is always lots going on. Just up the road from where I live, is one of my favorite regions in Washington Wine Country, the Yakima Valley. As the oldest wine region, or appellation, in Washington State, Yakima Valley has many small wine towns. The secret to enjoying the Yakima Valley is to get off the highway. The wonders that lie beyond just might impress you. As their association website states "Most wineries here are small family operations where unpretentious hospitality is the norm. Many are located within a rural countryside with unparalleled beauty. You can enjoy a glass of wine while gazing at the beautiful snow capped Mt. Adams or overlook the diverse agricultural abundance of the Yakima Valley." And speaking of their website, wine yakima valley dot org I highly recommend it. It is extremely easy to navigate and there is lots of information. While there, you can request a copy of the touring brochure and map be sent to you in the mail. Yeah, just for the asking! Listen in again tomorrow as I let you in on some of the highlights of visiting the Yakima Valley wine appellation. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thank you for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
