Washington Ag January 23, 2007 The Washington Wheat Commission's annual Wheat Research Review is coming up January 31st in Pullman. Something new this year says Randy Suess, Wheat Commission Chairman, is a tour the day before the review on Tuesday, January 30th.
Suess: "We are going to be doing a tour of WSU facilities and I want to invite everybody who wants to see the new Plant Bio-Sciences Building to come over there. We are going to meet in that building at one o'clock and start those tours. We will be able to go through all the researchers, the breeders projects and finish the day with a reception in the evening so you get a chance to visit those people doing those projects."
Then the next day, Wednesday, January 31st is the Wheat Research Review at the Pullman Quality Inn starting at 8 a.m. where breeders and researchers present projects they are seeking funding for.
Suess: "We encourage all farmers to come attend that. We ask you to fill out reviews on those. We prioritize those reviews and use that as the basis for making the Wheat Commission's final decision on which projects get funded at WSU."
Suess says last year the Wheat Commission funded 1.2 million dollars in research projects at Washington State University.
