12/28/06 10th Direct Seed Conference

Washington Ag December 28, 2006 The 10th Annual Northwest Direct Seed Conference is quickly approaching. It's being held January 10th through the 12th at Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick, Washington. The Pacific Northwest Direct Seed Association puts on the convention and its president Mark Sheffels says that in addition to five keynote presentations there are nine topics presented as concurrent sessions focused on the agronomy of direct seed systems. Sheffels: "Irrigation will be one of the topics will be one of the topics we put some priority on. Irrigation is a little bit newer to direct seeding than some of the conventional, so a little bit of emphasis on that. But check our website and take a look at what we have. I think no matter what a grower's interest is we have a break out session to give them some pretty valuable information." Main speakers at the Direct Seed Conference include Carlos Crovetto of Chile talking about the global shift to conservation agriculture and Bill Horan, a Midwest grower and Director of Truth About Trade and Technology speaking about the role of agriculture in delivering future energy needs.
