Washington wines on list. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.
Seems a lot more people are discovering wines from the evergreen state. The worldwide publication, the Wine Enthusiast has released it's top 100 wines and that list includes 8 samplings from Washington. Robin Pollard, Executive Director, Washington Wine Commission says this is quite an honor.
POLLARD: We just continue to shine out there in terms of Washington Wines getting the critical acclaim by many, many different wine critics. And it's not just from like I said, one critic. It's every list that's coming out, there are; it's dominated by or at least populated by Washington wines.
The eight wines were chosen from over 8,000 wines submitted to Wine Enthusiast from throughout the world over the course of the year.
POLLARD: We have a nice cross section of varieties, we have a nice cross section of size of wineries and different vintages so it's again a demonstration that Washington is home to top notch wines whether they are a Cabernet or Riesling and it certainly helps make our job easier.
The 8 wineries are Chateau Ste. Michelle, J. Bookwalter, Soos Creek, Quilceda Creek Vintners, Cadence Winery, Cayuse Vineyards, Andrew Will Winery, Betz Family Winery
