11/13/06 Tree Fruit Grant Application

Tree Fruit Grant Application time. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report. The Washington Apple Education Foundation or WAEF is currently taking applications for their Community & School Education Grant. Jennifer Witherbee is director of WAEF. WITHERBEE: We've changed the name of the application. It formerly was know as the Farm Worker Education Program Application. And although the grant criteria is still the same, we're hoping that we'll get a broader range of applicants with this new name. Organizations, including community groups and public & private schools, assisting farmworkers/Ag workers and their families attain scholastic success are eligible to apply. WITHERBEE: You can download an application from out website; www.waef.org. Complete that application and return it to the foundation office. Just looking for what does the program achieve, whose involved in the program, the amount of money that someone is requesting, the total program budget and then what are the planned outcomes. Completed applications must be returned to the Washington Apple Education Foundation no later than April 1, 2007. WITHERBEE: We're also targeting dual language classrooms that are already in existence that needs some support to become a little bit stronger. The Washington Apple Education Foundation was formed in 1994 by tree fruit industry members to coordinate, promote and develop charitable activities reflecting industry values. That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Northwest Ag Information Network.
