NM Port of Entry Opening, EPA Spends Time with Farmers

New Mexico could reopen its Santa Teresa port of entry to Mexican cattle as soon as September 24th, as USDA continues its phased reopening of southern border livestock crossings following concerns over New World screwworm.

Region 7 Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Jim Macy says that under the Trump administration, they travel to where the people are in order to have discussions. He highlights some of those that are of concern to the ag industry: "diesel emission fluid, death, WOTUS, common sense rulemaking, following the rule of law, all of those, and then balancing that with clean air, clean water, clean soil, and and that's what I think this EPA administration is doing exceptionally well, following the rule of law, making policy that's protective for the American people, yet allows for economic growth and durability, and then powering the great American comeback. It's just really exciting to be a part of that general structure, seeing how how an administration can follow the rule of law, can be protective for the American public, and provide economic opportunities for everybody. It's just a great time in America right now."
