**On May 20th, Washington’s Beef Community kicked off Beef Counts Summer Grilling by distributing 726 pounds of St. Helen’s ground beef, feeding 363 families.

Washington’s Beef Community has served folks across the state since 2010 through Beef Counts, uniting with organizations like Second Harvest in the fight against hunger.

Second harvest President, Drew Meuer says with this year’s extra tight food supplies, this beef is the essential nutrition our communities need.

**The U.S. Meat Export Federation wrapped up its Spring Conference with a discussion detailing innovative marketing strategies that have helped expand demand for U.S. red meat in Asian and Latin American markets.

Panelists included USMEF vice president, Jihae Yang who shared insights from Taiwan, South Korea and Japan.

The conference kicked off with a focus on the rapid growth of U.S. red meat exports to China, Saudi Arabia and other key markets.

**Frank Mitloehner, air quality specialist, professor and director of the CLEAR Center at UC-Davis, will be the new chair of the Department of Animal Sciences, which has the highest undergraduate enrollment in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.

Dean, Ashley Stokes called Mitloehner a distinguished member of the faculty who’s had a significant impact in animal agriculture, environmental sustainability and public engagement.
