Georgia Farmers Called to Lead
Georgia farmers have an opportunity to help shape the future of the state’s top industry.Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper announced that thirteen of Georgia’s Agricultural Commodity Commissions are now accepting nominations for producer leadership positions. The commissions seeking nominations include apple, blueberry, citrus, corn, cotton, equine, milk, peach, pecan, soybean, tobacco, vegetable, and wine and grape.
Administered through the Georgia Department of Agriculture, the commissions oversee farmer-funded programs focused on research, education, and promotion for Georgia-grown commodities.
Commissioner Harper says, “Georgia’s Agricultural Commodity Commissions play a vital role in the continued success of our state’s number one industry and I want to encourage our producers to get involved by serving in these commissions.”
Producers can nominate themselves, be nominated by others, or receive nominations from affiliated organizations. Commission members serve three-year terms and help make decisions on behalf of fellow producers. Nomination forms are available through the Georgia Department of Agriculture website and must be submitted by June 1st, 2026.
