Innovation in crop and livestock production continues to accelerate, but one area that hasn’t kept up is farm security. Ag crime investigator Bobby Rader says that need became clear to him after years of investigating farm theft.
Rader… “ I looked for years as a professional investigator. I looked for years for tools. I was always on the internet. I was always going to trainings. I was always going to this show or that show, or the ag show, whatever, and I never could find a tool. And as much innovation that exists for farming today, which is mind blowing, right? The space of ag security—ag crimes is void of innovation.”
Rader created COP-R-LOCK in partnership with Farmblox to offer tools to prevent copper theft on farms.
Rader… “ The time for change was right. And that's essentially what the COP-R-LOCK does is it's created change and opportunity that wasn't currently available. And the feedback I'm getting from growers and farmers, not just in California but across the country, is they're excited because right now the farmer doesn't have the opportunity. The criminal has the opportunity. If the farmer knows, then he has an opportunity to do something about it. Law enforcement knows. Law enforcement has the opportunity to do something about it.”
