Peanut Producers Sought for National Peanut Board
Peanut producers in Alabama and Florida have an opportunity to play a direct role in shaping the future of the industry by serving on the National Peanut Board. The Alabama Peanut Producers Association and the Florida Peanut Producers Association, along with partner states, are seeking eligible producers interested in a three year term beginning January 1, 2027. Nomination election meetings will be held in early 2026 to select two nominees from each state for both member and alternate positions. Eligible producers are those who grow and sell peanuts and who own, or share ownership of, the crop and its risk.Alabama’s nomination meeting will follow its annual meeting on January 29, 2026, in Dothan. Florida producers will meet February 26, 2026, in Marianna. Current board members and alternates from both states will see their terms expire December 31, 2026.
Once nominations are finalized, each state’s slate will be submitted to the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture for appointment. The National Peanut Board represents U.S. peanut farmers and their families through promotion and research.
