Children's Hospital has recently honored the Auction of Washington Wines for their fundraising. Carol Munro is the Auction of Washington Wines Executive Director.
MUNRO: It's to recognize the Auction for it's longstanding commitment to Children's Hospital and specifically this grape arbor's in recognition of the Auction and the pledge of 5 million dollars towards the campaign for Children's Hospital. It's a super way to recognize the industry for all the giving back to the community that it does.
The grape arbors are a fitting memorial.
MUNRO: Well it's on the campus at the Sandpoint Hospital, Children's Hospital, and what they've done is they have erected a series of archways and they've planted grapes that will cover the arbor and it kind of leads you down a path where there is a bench and the idea from the hospital is they really wanted to create a nice space where patients and families could actually have a place to get away and be quiet and kind of meditative so it's a lovely garden area.
The Auction of Washington Wines, which has generated over $17 million since its inception in 1988, is one of the premier wine destination events in the country. Raising $1.9 million this year alone, the Auction is one of the most important sources of revenue for Children's Hospital in Seattle.
