Georgia’s Sonny Perdue Earns a Place in Ag History
Across the Southeastern United States, the agricultural community is celebrating one of its own. On October 23, 2025, Former Georgia Governor, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, and current University System of Georgia Chancellor Sonny Perdue was inducted into the National Agricultural Hall of Fame in Kansas City, Kansas.Chancellor Perdue, nominated by Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J. Harper and supported by Governor Brian Kemp and American Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall, joins a legendary group that includes Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington Carver.
“I’m deeply honored to join just two other Georgians in the National Agriculture Hall of Fame,” said Chancellor Perdue. “Agriculture is more than food and resources—it’s the foundation of thriving communities.”
Commissioner Harper called Perdue “a lifelong champion for Agriculture,” while Governor Kemp praised his “dedication to supporting farmers and investing in rural communities.”
From Georgia’s red clay fields to the halls of national leadership, Sonny Perdue’s story shines as a Southern legacy rooted in service, faith, and the spirit of American agriculture.
