Florida Commissioner Highlights 2026 Farm Bill Proposals
In a recent statement, the Florida Commissioner of Agriculture’s office highlighted the 2026 Florida Farm Bill (SB 290), sponsored by Senator Keith Truenow and Representative Danny Alvarez. The proposal outlines several measures related to agriculture, public safety, and consumer protection. According to the Commissioner’s office, the bill would prohibit local governments from restricting the use of gasoline- or diesel-powered farm and lawn equipment, make it a crime to possess or use signal jamming devices, and increase penalties for cheating on commercial driver license proficiency exams.Additional provisions would ban commercial solicitation at homes displaying “No Solicitation” signs, create penalties for contractors who fail to pay subcontractors, and establish a loan repayment program for veterinarians who treat food animals and work in Florida.
Commissioner Wilton Simpson said the legislation is aimed at “protecting freedom, family, and Florida’s farmers,” while Senator Truenow said it seeks to strengthen public safety and defend property rights. More information is available at FDACS.gov.
