**California table olive growers are expected to harvest a smaller crop this year.

The 2025 forecast is 44,000 tons, down 10% from last year’s crop, according to a survey conducted by the USDA.

The USDA surveyed 242 growers and found the sector struggles with many of the same challenges plaguing other crops: insufficient labor, increased input costs and weak markets.

Manzanillo olives make up the vast majority of California’s table olives.

**The Senate confirmed three nominees for critical positions at the USDA.

These nominees all received bipartisan support when they were considered by their respective committees.

The three USDA nominees include Richard Fordyce as Under Secretary for Farm Production and Conservation; Dudley Hoskins as the Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs; and Scott Hutchins as the Under Secretary of Agriculture for Research, Education, and Economics.

**The Department of the Interior and USDA announced a coordinated action to create the U.S. Wildland Fire Service to modernize wildfire management nationwide.

Fire seasons are longer, fire intensity is increasing, and suppression and recovery costs are soaring.

Interior Secretary, Doug Burgum says too often we have witnessed the devastating consequences of wildfires caused by mismanagement and a lack of preparedness.

Order 3443 directs the establishment of a plan for implementation in January.
