USA Pulses Summit in Spokane and Ground Beef Prices Soar
From the Ag Information Network, this is your Agribusiness Update.**At the recent USA Pulses Summit in Spokane, the group set a lofty goal: to double production and demand by the year 2030.
These crops are mainly grown in the Northern Plains, as well as the Pacific Northwest, but Tim McGreevy, a farmer and CEO of USA Pulses, says the crops can be grown across the country.
McGreevy says prices for pulse crops are surprisingly good. Our issue is we’ve got to raise demand.
**Ground beef prices continue hitting record-high levels.
Government data says the average price of a pound of 100% ground beef rose to $6.12 in June, 12% higher than last year.
Industry experts say this trend shows no signs of slowing, which means there may be upward pressure on prices through 2026 and beyond.
Axios said the U.S. is dealing with significantly lower beef supplies, and that’s what is driving up the price of beef right now.
**America’s farm and food product exports create value and generate economic activity in and outside of the agricultural sector thanks to higher demand for transportation, packaging materials, or financial services across the supply chain.
In 2023, the value of U.S. ag exports hit $175.5 billion, generating an additional $186.9 billion in economic activity.
Including the value of the exports themselves, U.S. ag exports generated a total economic output of $362.4 billion.
