June Milk Production Higher and U.S. and Indonesia Reach Trade Deal
From the Ag Information Network, this is your Agribusiness Update.**Milk production in the 24 major milk-producing states in June totaled 18.5 billion pounds, up 3.4% from June of ‘24.
May revised production, at 19.3 billion pounds, was up 2.4%, representing an increase of 136 million pounds or 0.7% from last month’s pre-production estimate.
Production per cow for June was up 33 pounds.
The number of milk cows in those states was 9.03 million head, 151,000 more than June 24.
**U.S. Wheat Associates welcomed the announced Agreement on Reciprocal Trade between the U.S. and Indonesia.
The proposed trade deal is expected to directly benefit U.S. wheat farmers through the removal of Indonesian tariffs on 99 U.S. products, a reduction in non-tariff barriers, and new purchase commitments for U.S. ag products.
USW president Mike Spier says we are grateful for this commitment that includes an earlier agreement between Indonesian flour millers and the U.S. wheat industry.
**Critics are decrying the reorganization plan for USDA announced by Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins.
In a statement, Amy Klobuchar, ranking member of the Senate Ag Committee, condemned the plan as a “half-baked proposal.”
