August Recess
From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson. Farmers and ranchers will soon have a critical opportunity to share their concerns with elected officials.American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall says engaging with our lawmakers will be important next month while they are in their home districts during the August recess …
DUVALL … “Members of Congress will soon head home to spend the August recess visiting with constituents. Lawmakers have had a busy summer, but there are still
important issues to be addressed this September.”
Given the list of challenges, Duvall says it’s important to deliver some reminders …
DUVALL … “August recess is a prime time for our farmers to make their voices heard. It’s critical for lawmakers to hear how their decisions on Capitol Hill directly impact our ability to grow food, fiber, and renewable fuel.
And, Duvall says there are a couple of key topics to drive home …
DUVALL … “This August recess, it is important for farmers to meet with lawmakers and share the importance of passing the farm bill and finding a solution to our ongoing agricultural labor crisis.”
Duvall says this will take a team effort …
DUVALL … “Together, we can strengthen agriculture for the good of our families, our communities, and our country.”
Again, that is Zippy Duvall, President of the American Farm Bureau Federation.
