**The Alabama Farmers Federation scholarship program continues to cultivate the next generation of agriculturists.

www.alfafarmers.org reports seventy-seven students were recognized September 23rd during the annual awards program at Lazenby Farms in Auburn.

The partnership between the Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation and county Farmers Federations awarded $136,000 to undergrads pursuing degrees in agriculture, forestry and related fields at Auburn University.

**U.S. egg production totaled 9.08 billion during August, down 3% from last year.

Production included 7.77 billion table eggs and 1.3 billion hatching eggs.

The average number of layers in August totaled 370 million, down 3% from last year.

August egg production per 100 layers was 2,451, up slightly from August 2023.

Total layers in the U.S. on September 1st were 372 million, down 3%.

**Donald Trump is threatening to slap a 200% tariff on John Deere products sold in the U.S. IF the company moves production to Mexico as planned.

Over the summer, John Deere announced it was laying off hundreds of employees and increasing production in Mexico, a decision that upset workers and some political leaders.

Trump has said he would slap automakers with 200% tariffs is they moved their production to Mexico, but this is a first for ag equipment makers.
