Free Business Training Offered to California Ag Producers
Running a farm or ranch takes a lot more than knowing how to produce a good product. These days, it can also mean being your own marketer, bookkeeper, salesperson and regulatory expert. That’s the idea behind a free Business Launchpad program being offered this fall through UC Agriculture and Natural Resources, the Southwest Regional Food Business Center and F3 Local.
The nine-week program is open to small- and mid-sized California farmers, ranchers, fishers, food producers and food business owners. Up to 40 participants will be selected.
Training will cover things like business planning, financial literacy, access to capital, marketing and branding, recordkeeping, regulatory compliance and food safety.
Most of the program will happen virtually, including weekly classes and one-on-one coaching. There will also be in-person networking opportunities in Northern, Central and Southern California.
The fall cohort runs October through December, and the training is free.
Applications are due September 1, with participants expected to be notified by September 10.
