Part 4: Growth Energy Says Canada is a Strong Market for U.S. Ethanol
“Roughly, we produce 15 to 16 billion gallons of ethanol here in the US. We export just around 10% of that to a number of countries around the world. You know, our one of our strongest trading partners is just to our north and Canada. They have been one of our bigger export markets and we enjoy great relationships in Canada, they now have a clean fuel regulation. They're CFR which is really going to incentivize the use of low carbon biofuels.”
While Brazil is a big user and producer of ethanol in itself, they are also competing with the US in a global marketplace, and blindly ads at India has committed to reaching a 20% ethanol blend, which will then make them a potential leader in the ethanol industry. Moreover, discussions are ongoing regarding market entry in countries such as the Philippines, South Korea, Japan, and Europe, where the US is currently exporting ethanol. We are making a low carbon fuel that you know today with a number of countries and their climate commitments, there are real opportunities for the use of ethanol and the use of higher ethanol blends.”
