From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson with today’s Fruit Grower Report. Well, it’s still a few months away, but it’s not too early to start planning to attend the Washington State Tree Fruit Association’s Annual Meeting and Hort Show.

Marty Olsen, Owner/Manager of Olsen Brothers in Prosser, is the Chairman of this year’s Annual Meeting and says this year’s meeting will be held in the Tri Cities …

OLSEN … “The annual meeting is our biggest meeting of the year. It’s a culmination of efforts to put together a meeting at the end of the year for all the growers to get together and take a look at where we are and what’s happening.”

And every year, Olsen says they have to come up with a theme for their Annual Meeting …

OLSEN … “This year’s theme, we’ve settled on “Deep Roots – New Strategies, Innovative thinking for today’s challenges.”

Olsen says it’s the only time many of our growers can get away …

OLSEN … “One of the things that’s really great about this annual meeting is that it’s a chance for all of us to come together, where there’s some people we’ll only see once a year, and it’s at this meeting. And it’s a chance for us to catch up when we don’t have the pressure of harvest or meeting, you know, those sharp deadlines that have to happen. It’s a chance for us to get out of town, come together and catch up with one another.”

Tune in tomorrow for more on the WSTFA Annual Meeting and why you should start planning now to attend.
