American Rancher July 10, 2006 The Washington State Sheep Producer's 2006 Annual Ram & Ewe sale is coming up this Saturday July 15th at the Grant County Fairgrounds in Moses Lake. Jami Beintema Executive Secretary of the Sheep Producers, says there will be 163 lots for sale of purebred and commercial rams and ewes consigned by producers from Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
Beintema: "And they are all of breeding age so that the commercial producer can come and buy new rams for his flock and use them this fall. That is the intent of this sale. And the breeds we are featuring this year are Columbia, Dorset, Hampshire, Romney, Suffolk, Texel and then crossbreds of all of hose breeds."
Beintema emphasizes that the rams are sifted and have been tested for B ovis.
Beintema: "The show is on July 15th and the show for the purebreds starts at 9 a.m. Jan Busboom is going to be our judge for the show. At 11:30 is the barbeque. The sale starts at 1:30 and Jake Falleson is going to be our auctioneer."
