06/28/06 New SRBA filing fees

Just about this time each summer the reports are coming in about grasshoppers. This year says Idaho State Department of Agriculture's Ben Simko there is a new hot spot; north central Idaho. SIMKO "Nez Perce County and Lewis County and Idaho County around Grangeville and Lewiston and those areas we're having some problems with migratory grasshoppers, red leg grasshoppers in some of the pasture lands adjacent to some of the cultivated areas." There have been grasshopper flare ups in Oneida County and other parts of eastern Idaho. Simko says you can get a lot more information on the hoppers at the ISDA website www.idahoag.us. Beginning this Saturday the fees to file a water right claim in the Snake River Basin Adjudication will increase across the board. The 2006 legislature approved the first filing fee increase since the SRBA process began nearly 20 years ago. The increased fees will apply to those filing water right claims in the North Idaho Adjudication process that is set to begin next year. Fees will range from 50 dollars for single family domestic and stock water use up to 448 dollars for certain uses. Today's Idaho Ag News Bill Scott
