WFB Mission in 2023 Pt 1
From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson. With new leadership taking over at the Washington Farm Bureau this past year, some may wonder what these new leaders are up to and what their priorities are in 2023.1st Vice President of Legislative Affairs, Bridget Coon says it’s to include everyone involved in agriculture in the process …
COON … “Our goal is to really strengthen our grassroots process, whether it’s on our state legislative work or our American Farm Bureau policy work. So, the more engagement we have from our grassroots the stronger our recommendations and our activation will be.”
That’s important, Coon says when lawmakers are in session …
COON … “Once we kind of get through this legislative session, through our policy and legislative committees, we’ll be able to really review these policies again starting in the spring and take the process through to the next annual meeting.”
In that regard, Coon says really we’re not unlike other Farm Bureaus …
COON … “But we definitely are operating in an environment where we have to work very hard to get the priorities of agriculture in front of decision makers and prioritized by decision makers to be sure that we can continue and also really be successful farming and ranching in a state like Washington.”
Tune in tomorrow for more on this new-look Washington Farm Bureau and their mission moving forward.
