06/13/06 ICA mid-year conference

It's a full agenda for next week's Idaho Cattle Association annual mid-year conference. The ICA members will gather in Jackpot, Nevada June 20th through the 22nd. Executive Director Lloyd Knight says the meeting is important for several reasons. KNIGHT "This is the time when we evaluate where we really are with our priority issues so far for the year and where we start to set the course for the next several months and into next year." Representatives from the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, Idaho Fish and Game Department and the Department of Agriculture will be on hand to talk about various issues affecting Idaho cattlemen. KNIGHT "We're going to talk about brucellosis and where we are with our state brucellosis status and what we're doing to get it back. We're going to talk about some source verification programs and hopefully some opportunities for Idaho producers. We're going to visit about wilderness issues and wolf management big things for a lot of our cow-calf producers especially in the central part of the state as they struggle thought some of these issues and figuring out where ICA is going to get involved to try to make all of that work effectively and efficiently." The mid-year conference will conclude with the President's Cup Golf Tournament, BBQ, and Benefit Auction.
