BL: Welcome back to another “Fruit Bites” brought to you by Valent U.S.A. With us again is Valent’s Allison Walston. And this week Allison is announcing the recipient of Apple Grower of the Year.

American Fruit Grower magazine announced the recipient of the 2022 Apple Grower of the Year award: Dave Gleason with Kershaw Fruit, a division of Domex Superfresh Growers out of Yakima, WA. Gleason is the apple Horticulturist and Proprietary Variety Developer at Kershaw Fruit. He’s been working on an apple variety called, ‘Autumn Glory’. A ‘Golden Delicious’/’Fuji’ cross with cider-like flavors of caramel and cinnamon.

BeckyJo Smith, Valent USA’s Associate Director of Sustainable Solutions, will be presenting the award later this month to Dave and his wife Barbara at the U.S. Apple Association’s annual Apple Crop Outlook and Marketing Conference in Chicago. Congratulations to Dave Gleason.
