Fruit Bites for Aug 30-Sept 1 ... Field Update
BL: Welcome back to another “Fruit Bites” brought to you by Valent U.S.A. With us again is Valent’s Allison Walston. And this week Allison, we have a field update.AW: Cherries are finished and I ate some really yummy ones this year!
BL: (comment about cherries). Up next: pears
AW: We’ve started Bartlett pear harvest. Anjous will start in a few more days. This time between Bartlett and Anjou is critical to keep the Anjous pear psylla free so they aren’t sticky at harvest. There is also a chance to apply ReTain PGR to decrease scald in storage.
BL: And finally, apples.
AW: For most apples, September is the time to get some size and nice color development without having the fruit fall off the tree. PGRs like ReTain can help with harvest management timing, size development and keep the fruit from dropping.
BL: Well, thanks Allison. Join us again next time for Fruit Bites, brought to you by Valent. Until then, I’m Bob Larson.
