Right Place; Wrong Time II Yesterday I started telling you about opportunities and luck. I'm Jeff Keane. Today I'll finish the discussion. At the end of yesterday's episode in a muddy arena a bull named Camp Tender had the opportunity to vent his attitude on a fallen rider, but bullfighter Jimmy jumped in and saved the rider by turning Camp Tender away. Now usually the bull would have been no problem for Jimmy but on this muddy day the bull happened to outguess and out maneuver Jimmy. Jimmy was mashed into the mud and while the mud caused his problem it also cushioned Jimmy as the bull tried to plant him so he could grow in that wet soil. My brother was chute boss and he was close enough to jump at the bull and tickle his face with a rodeo program as Jimmy was helped from the arena. Now if my brother had been wanting to be a bullfighter this would have been the perfect opportunity. But he was only trying to help his friend Jimmy so when the stock contractor said "You did a good job Keane; just work these last bulls" it became a non-opportunity. My brother had just started to explain how he respectfully declined the nomination when the next bull came out. Good luck smiled on my brother as he finished the job still upright. Meanwhile behind the chutes helpers had Jimmy resting and clearing off nine layers of mud when the unseen Camp Tender slipped a horn between the corral boards and gave Jimmy a forget-me-not kiss with his horn. Jimmy's luck did turn better the next day, as he was only stiff and not broken. I'm Jeff Keane.
