Right Place; Wrong Time
Opportunities and luck present themselves at anytime and any place. I'm Jeff Keane; I'll be right back to talk about opportunities and luck.
Not all opportunities are great opportunities and not all luck is good luck. Jimmy was a very good all around rodeo hand; he even found time to work the bulls as a rodeo bullfighter. Jimmy's luck took a turn for the down side at our local rodeo a few years back. It was one of those rare times in our part of the country when we actually had a rainy day. Only this time it really rained and had the rodeo arena about six inches deep with sticky mud. By the time the bull riding got going the arena looked like pigpen heaven to even the most discriminating mud connoisseur hog. The normally fleet footed Jimmy was slowed down considerably but had no problems detouring bulls away from fallen rides through the first section. The next section started good from Jimmy until the big athletic gray horned bull, Camp Tender, took outer stage. On this day, Camp Tender would have been considered a "mudder" if he would have been a horse running on the race track since the arena mud had no effect on his performance whatsoever. He also carried with him an attitude caused, I guess, from the rain giving him a bad hair day. As Camp Tender splatted his rider in the mud he saw a perfect opportunity to showcase his attitude on the fallen rider. But Jimmy was right there and you'll just have to hold that image of the fallen rider, the mud, the bull and Jimmy until I can finish this story tomorrow. I'm Jeff Keane.
