BL: Welcome back to another “Fruit Bites” brought to you by Valent U.S.A. With us again is Valent’s Allison Walston. And this week Allison, we are talking about safety in the orchard.

AW: Safety is really important at Valent USA. So when you’re out applying products, it is always essential to protect yourself and others. This is also good for homeowners that apply products in their yards.

BL: How do we know what PPE, personal protective equipment, to wear?

AW: For registered pesticides, look at the product label on the container or online. The PPE section is usually on the first page. It details what you should wear as a mixer, applicator and for re-entry. Accidents happen so be safe and prepared.

BL: what if major accidents happen or a spill?

AW: For spills, call and report to the National Response Center. For exposure, follow the label’s First Aid section and keep the label with you for the doctor or poisin control. A hot line number for emergency medical treatment is also provided on the label.

BL: Well, thanks Allison. Join us again next time for Fruit Bites, brought to you by Valent. Until then, I’m Bob Larson.
