05/25/06 More awards for Glanbia Foods

The largest cheese manufacturer in the Northwest Glanbia Foods was been awarded three golds and one silver medal in the prestigious World Championships. Out of nearly 18 hundred entries from 18 countries Glanbia's Twin Falls' facility was awarded gold medals for its Monterey Jack, Mild Cheddar and Pepper Flavored cheeses. Glanbia also received silver and bronze medals in the Marbled Cheese class. WILLIAMS "It all starts with the milk and I've often said that the Magic Valley has the best milk in the world. I mean we just have superior dairymen here that know how to milk cows and its excellent quality milk." Glanbia's President and CEO Jeff Williams joined Twin Falls city officials yesterday for a barbeque and cheese tasting, while paying tribute to the 500 Idaho employees who work for Glanbia. Williams says Glanbia will continue to grow on top of the more than 9 and a half million pounds of milk processed every day into cheese and whey products at facilities in Twin Falls and Gooding. WILLIAMS "Little over a third of the milk in Idaho we process and we want to continue to at least hold that margin or maybe increase it." Williams says Idaho dairymen are efficient in their operations, they produce an abundance of milk and that has helped to attract companies like his to the Magic Valley where he expects dairy growth to continue.
