05/19/06 U/I Twilight Tour set for July 6

The final planning is still going on but the date is set for the University of Idaho's second Twilight Tour at the Kimberly Research Center. They've set July 6th as the date for this year's event. The free open house at Kimberly also features a free barbecue and plenty of things to see and do. Don Morishita says this kind of event is for people directly involved in agriculture and those who just want to learn more about it. MORISHITA "Family consumer sciences, 4-H things to agricultural production from crops and livestock production issues so we'll have displays and booths as well as well as some things out in the field that people could go out and look at." There's always some type of research going on at the University of Idaho facility in Kimberly. One example is Roundup Ready sugarbeets. MORISHITA "We've been doing a lot of work with the Roundup Ready beets for a number of years but we've kind of ramped that up this year with a little more work with it and looking at some other things that we haven't looked at yet. I think that just from the general weed control standpoint it's just amazing how great these sugar beets look when you go in there and spray them with the Roundup. The weed control looks really good.
