The Ag Information Network's Corryn La Rue spoke with a John Deere Marketing Manager Greg Christensen at the World Ag Expo, and he says new technology is hitting the market.

“Specialty tractors, the high-crop tractors, and showing off this week a company we partnered with called Smart-Apply. It’s a camera system that mounts to any blast-sprayer that digitally images a tree… it’ll spray more product in the dense area of the tree… and from what we’ve seen producers yielding from that, up to 73 percent less consumption of product sprayed.”

This equipment could help minimize product use… but also combats the labor shortage.

“We just announced the autonomous tillage tractor, so you’ll see us in the future becoming more focused on autonomy and trying to help producers with labor shortages they may face.”
