For California AG today, I'm Mike Stephens. We continue with John Roncoroni Weed Science Farm Advisor, Emeritus, UC Cooperative Extension Napa Valley, specializing in weed control and cover crops. Also, his expertise is in IPM weeds affecting plants and wine grapes, to name a few. He continues with the guidelines of growing grapes and understanding the biology of the weeds.

This is pretty much taken from the U.S. guidelines for growing grapes. When the harvest is first leaf drop by break, we're Asian, so I put this in dependable precipitation for incorporation with a question mark we never really know. But you know, this is what we're going to want to put our pre emergent herbicides in. This is when we're drip irrigating. You know, sometimes all the way back up into October, our herbicides, we have a contact herbicide before before leaf drop glyphosate in that winter period, re-emergence contact herbicide out here. And you know, there is some use of glyphosate after bud break. You know, when the vines are a little bit older, you get down, especially for those is pretty high. People have gone in and use that. So know your weeds, ID and biology of weeds is so important. Everybody knows Malverde. Like, start this off. Nobody has started until it's three feet wide with thistles on it, right? And I'm going to use this joke one last time. How do you kill Malibu this big with iron hardened on the end of a stick? All right, that's the last time. Ok, but here I mean, you know, you all know that this is willow herb. And here's a Fillory, right? That's when we need to get out. At least start looking.
