As the COVID-19 vaccines continue to roll out, it’s of the utmost importance that we prioritize our farm employees. That’s exactly what Fresno County Farm Bureau members are doing. The swift actions of farm employers in the area have paid off, says Fresno County Farm Bureau CEO Ryan Jacobsen.

Jacobsen… “One thing that we've been very excited about India industry is the fact that we've seen a huge response from our employee community. They are very, very excited to be offered the shot. They're very excited for their turn, for their opportunity. And so I know our employers that we're hearing from in the ag community, they see that their employees are excited to do it and happy to do it. And that's something that I think we're so energized in the industry to make this happen.”

The farm bureau was able to complete a pilot project to work out the kinks and find the best ways to get the agricultural community vaccinated.

Jacobsen… “Through that process at the end of January, we were able to learn a lot and now we have an additional allotment that's been committed by our department of public health here in Fresno County. The governor has recently committed additional vaccinations going towards farm employees. So our County health department in conjunction with our local clinics have really, I mean, by early to mid March, we're going to have a lot of momentum and steam going forward to get as many of these employees vaccinated as possible.”

Efforts like this one are happening in the agricultural community throughout the state, to protect our essential farm employees.
