CEO of Columbia Grain International, Jeff Van Pevenage, discussed potential links between canine dilated cardiomyopathy or DCM in dogs who eat certain pet foods. He says pulse food additives are great for canine nutrition.

It's one of the healthiest foods you can eat as a human being. Why wouldn't it be considered healthy for a pet as well? As pet food is ramped up with this product? I think it's about 2018. The FDA came out with a non-scientific based statement that they thought that grain free diets were creating DCM in dogs. No scientific proof on it. Just that was their theory based upon a very small subset study of dogs that had died because of DCM Suddenly, the media caught on to this and started putting out information that grain free diet, they could come up with this DCM. Here's a reality. Golden retrievers are predisposed to DCM, so to say that a grain free diet creates it in golden retrievers is just nonsensical. What we're trying to get at and what's Columbia Grain's participation in this? We create markets for farmers. Our job is to be a market leader, market driver and pet food is a very big market for farmers, peas and lentils. Google Columbia Grain International. I'm sure they'd be happy to talk to you.
