I’m Bob Larson. The Potato Leadership, Education, and Advancement Foundation, that was launched just a year ago, fought through one of the toughest years on record to meet its first Founders Society fundraising goal of $2-million.

National Potato Council CEO Kam Quarles says the response has been incredible …

QUARLES … “The construction of the foundation and its success to date is really remarkable. You know, we started working on this about a year-and-a-half ago, rolled it out a year ago, and then over this past year, in the middle of a huge crisis we’ve seen a remarkable support from the industry.”

And, Quarles says the success says a lot about the people involved and what it means to the industry …

QUARLES … “It’s pretty amazing what’s gone on with this foundation. And, a tremendous amount of credit is due to Mike for everything he put together on this. It’s just great! And, to me, it really shows the tremendous value that our industry places on leadership and the affinity that they have for this program that they want to secure it, not just now, but on into the future by putting their money where their mouth is with this foundation.”

The Potato LEAF also announced the creation of a new program designed to support graduates of the Potato Industry Leadership Institute.

Tune in tomorrow for more on the big first year of the Potato LEAF.
