Potato LEAF Fundraising Goals Pt 1
I’m Bob Larson. Great news from the Potato Expo, that is being held virtually this year, with the announcement that while 2020 was filled with never before seen challenges, they are some silver linings.National Potato Council Chief Operating Officer, Mike Wenkel says this news comes in the form of fundraising for the newly formed Potato Leadership, Education, and Advancement Foundation …
WENKEL … “If you recall, a year ago when we launched the foundation at Potato Expo we had the goal of a $2-million dollar funding request as a part of the Founders Society. We’re excited to announce that in 2020 we did achieve that $2-million goal as a part of the Founders Society.”
And since 2020 was unlike any year we’ve seen, Wenkel says there’s more …
WENKEL … “The Board has extended the deadline to become a member of the Founders Society, which is really that inaugural group of people who will have recognition for perpetuity as helping to found the foundation.”
But, Wenkel says you’ve got time …
WENKEL … “We’ve extended the deadline to make a pledge out until December 31st of 2021. So, we’re really giving people another year to do that, recognizing that three months into the launch everybody’s world was tipped upside down.”
Wenkel says that’s not all, so tune in tomorrow for more on the goals reached and the message from this year’s Potato Expo.
